The Trio: Elizabeth Anker, contralto (and piano)
Scott Woolweaver, viola

Save the date: the trio concludes our JP concerts season with the premiere of Francine Trester’s new OPERA:
334 Bunnies
Based on a true story of an eccentric woman who is visited by a policeman intent on shutting down her menagerie.
A lovely, tuneful one-act opera with Philip Lima and Elizabeth Anker, and a trio in the pit, our group plus the composer on violin. With stage set by Lisa French.
Saturday May 7, 2011, 4:00pm at St. John’s Church, Jamaica Plain.
Repeated at Longy School of Music on Thursday June 9 in the evening.

The most recent recording is out and it is gorgeous, if I do say so myself. Some of the pieces were “in the can” for nearly 10 years and it’s a joy to hear them. We (Magnificat Baroque, 8 virtuoso women singers plus theorbo and organ) recorded the rest of the works of this amazing composer and that CD should be out by Christmas.

June brings me to my hometown to sing with Magnificat Baroque at the Berkeley Early Music Festival, Yoshi’s jazz club, and record some fabulous music of a 17th century nun.

All Cozzolani, Chiara Margarita, that is, who travels between duple and triple time in joyous leaps.

This Saturday, May 1, I’ll be singing at the memorial service of Mary Daly, noted feminist theologian and word wizard. The program looks very very long, but my two songs are great–I learned a new song that Mary loved and have been having a blast making it my own.

Saturday May 1, 2pm, Episcopal Divinity School, Cambridge, MA, free www.marydaly.org

Then Sunday, I’ll be at the Longy Faculty Union stage at the Harvard Square May Fair, urging onlookers and friends to sing labor-related songs with me, including my own song,
“It’s not about the Money, it’s about Love”

Sunday, May 2, Church Street parking lot in Harvard Square, 12-2:45 (I go on from about 1-1:45 with some student helpers, including the fabulous Louise Grasmere). Free and songsheets included. http://www.longyfacultyunion.org
